SAP is a German multinational software company known for making enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. ERP software allows organizations to manage business operations, and usually refers to suite of modular applications that collect and integrate data from different aspects of the business.

SAP ERP has been evolving and improving since the 1970s, but the release of SAP HANA represented a sea of changes in the SAP landscape. Rather than continuing to design their enterprise software to run on databases built by other companies, SAP SE created their own innovative database, designed to move customers toward a faster, more flexible all-SAP landscape.

SAP Business Suite includes SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) as a foundation, plus customer relationship management (CRM), supplier relationship management (SRM), product lifecycle management (PLM) and supply chain management (SCM) modules, amongst others. SAP also provides cloud and/or on premise offerings on HANA platform. One of the most prominent one is s/4HANA.
